Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born 26 March 1991 often referred to professionally under the surname Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her debut EP Pho on October 21, 2016 was released by Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in notoriety. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks to the internet in 2012, when she released her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she debuted further music online including Bound. In 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album with the track "Sweat it out" 21st July. Later that year her music began to circulate around the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna. On December 8th that she had made an agreement with Dreamville Records. In the record Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the song Backseat along with Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP on the 21st of October 21st, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change in 2017 and also as an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas' Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. In November, she dropped two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November, she released 13 two new singles titled The No One and pedigree. They then collaborated to the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track called Shea Butter Baby on November 16, which was then released as a single on February 26th, 2019 for her debut album the same title. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was made available for the song. It already has nearly three million hits on YouTube within the first week. In December of 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
